Seismic Refraction

Seismic technique is one of the most developed geophysical techniques, routinely carried out for assessment of vital subsurface condition for most of the engineering projects. PARSAN specializes in Seismic Refraction surveys, and has the privilege of being the first company in India to introduce velocity gradient type results, which are substantially more realistic and accurate than typical layered models.

Seismic velocity model
FEATURES APPLICATIONS
Precise determination of soil thickness. Bedrock profile, rock quality and depth.
Precise determination of seismic velocities. Thickness of overburden
Precise determination of water table in overburden. Fractures and weak zones
Localization and identification of geological units. Topography of ground water
Detailed analysis of soil. Rippability assessment in mines
Great accessibility to rough terrain and remote regions. Slope stability studies
Pipeline route studies

ADVANTAGES LIMITATIONS
Rapid ground coverage. Velocity increase with depth a pre-requisite
Only option in rough remote terrains. Hidden layer & Blind Zone anomalies
Provides continuous profile of subsurface, critical for engineering projects.
Estimation of Dynamic Elastic Moduli like Poisson’s Ration, Young’s Modulus, Shear Modulus.
